Domain Name Registration
When you put a website on the world wide web you will need a specific name, Domain Name(DN), for the IP address to which your site is to be viewed from over the internet. So when you buy a GIC Hosting or Website Package you will need to either through us purchase a new DN or if you have an existing DN then you will need to redirect the Domain Name Server (DNS) settings to point to the GIC name servers(NS). Please fill free to contact GIC for more information on Registering and setting up and DNS.
How to construct a domain name
A domain name is one word, with no spaces.
Registered domain names are restricted to using the same characters as all other hostnames, as such they typically can only use ASCII letters, numbers, or the hyphen ( - ) used to separate DNS labels. Example: griffin-internet-computing.co.uk
Domain names are often referred to simply as domains and domain name registrants are frequently referred to as domain owners, although domain name registration with a registrar does not confer any legal ownership of the name, only an exclusive right of use.
